Sliding through repellence

Technology | 29 October 2010 | par : audrey
This is a treatment applied to fabrics: hydrophobic (“don’t like” water) molecules are applied parallel to the fabric, and the result is that water slides off the fabric without soaking in.
Over time, friction and the volumes of water build up, making the molecules sag. This reduces the water repellent effect. But there are 3 easy ways to reactivate the water repellence.
1- Iron parts of the garment affected (cool iron).
2- Tumble-dry the garment on the synthetics/cool programme.
3- Apply NOVADRY® waterproofing spray.
Three easy ways to refresh your gear!

Take a NOVADRY® shower

Technology | 6 August 2010 | par : Vincent
Waiting for it to rain so you can test how waterproof a product is can take a very, very long time. That’s why NOVADRY® has invented a shower capable of accurately reproducing four different types of rain:
- Drizzle,
- Shower,
- Rain storm,
- Torrential rain,
…which correspond with the levels set by the French meteorological service. For efficient testing, you need to be able to precisely set the volume, duration and projected force of rainfall. That’s a tough job!
Our dummy had his work cut out for him and allowed us to detect any potential weak points in products. From jackets for casual use to mountaineering, all of the products that are equipped with NOVADRY® have taken the test shower, bar none.
We’re deadly serious when it comes to finding leaks!

Lining is your softest protection

Technology | 6 July 2010 | par : audrey
You may have noticed in some waterproof garments, there is a light, perforated fabric lining (or mesh).
This is more than just an accessory; the lining plays several roles :
- It prevents wear of the membrane or coating. As you move, the friction from your skin can, over time, alter the efficacy of these components.
- It helps absorb moisture generated by your body.
- It prevents the unpleasant “sticky” feeling that you can have on your arms when wearing a jacket over a short-sleeved top.
Your rain jacket is perfect for warm, thundery weather, and you’ll forget you’re wearing it.
If you’re still not convinced, check out the CR100+!
